I'M CURRENTLY IN YEAR 7 or 8. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Hang tight! The youngest players we take over to the US are Year 9 players in the Year of the Tour. If you are in Year 8 and interested in going next year, you should be registering for our AAU Tour Trials.

If you are close to one of our AUSA Facilities, you could also look into our Academy coaching programs or facility memberships.

I'M CURRENTLY IN YEARS 9 OR 10. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Players in Years 9 and 10 in the Tour Year can attend our Boys and Girls AAU Tours. As one of the younger players attending these trips, you will be focused on gaining experience playing AAU and preparing yourself for when you are in Years 11 or 12.

I'M CURRENTLY IN YEAR 11 OR 12. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The July trip of your final year of high school is always the optimal time to play AAU.

July is the beginning of the college recruiting season when coaches are looking for their recruits starting August the following year. There is the greatest number of scholarships available at this time because colleges are starting their recruitment for the coming year.

If this is not feasible to go in July of Year 12 for any reason, the next best time for boys to attend is May after graduating high school, or June/July in Year 11 for girls.

For the boys, May is immediately succeeding the college season, where coaches are looking to fill their final scholarship spots and address roster imbalances for the upcoming season. There are still scholarships available, just not the same volume as in July.

Because girls typically develop earlier than boys, girls’ scholarships are often offered at earlier ages, which means playing AAU in Year 11 can be as fruitful for girls as playing in Year 12.

I have already graduated. Am I still eligible?

Yes! For those players who have already graduated and are still interested in college hoops, we highly recommend our May Tour. This is because coaches and scouts are looking to fill spots in their rosters for the upcoming start of college in August. It gives players the most time to come home and prepare for departing again!

Note this is for players who graduated the year prior to the tour. Unfortunately, we are unable to take players after this time.

WHY DO YOU RECOMMEND MULTIPLE TRIPS?

Americans have been playing AAU multiple times per year since they started school. They are used to seeing college coaches, used to the style of play, and used to the AAU environment. They have a huge leg up on an Aussie who is showing up to play AAU for the first time in Year 12.

Players can definitely be successful attending only one tour, but you can stack the odds in your favour by gaining more experience to ensure you perform to the best of your ability. There is no better way to learn about what it takes, than to go see and feel it for yourself.

You will notice from our Alumni List that many of the players who were successful in attaining scholarships attended multiple tours. It takes time to adjust to the US style of play and to gather your nerves in front of college coaches. We cannot understate how valuable playing AAU multiple times can be to help players achieve their college basketball dreams.

As a younger player who plans to attend multiple tours, you can gain the required experience from attending either the May or July trip.

What if my city isn’t listed or I can’t attend a trial?

For players from cities not listed or if you are unable to attend a trial, alternative measures (highlight tape, playing level, age, raw workout footage) will be taken into consideration to ensure you have a chance to prove yourself as a potential AUSA player. Please select Other Trial when completing the trial registration form and we will be in touch with you individually.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TRIALS?

After we complete the National AAU Trials, we will contact every player who attended to let them know if they were successful or not.

Those who were successful will be able to book a call with our staff to talk through any questions you may have about playing AAU with us. From there, you will need to sign on to play for us and make an initial deposit to reserve your position in the program.

WHAT IF I DON'T GET SELECTED FOR A TOUR?

If you don’t get selected for a tour, we are still more than happy to point you in the right direction. AUSA is the largest and most successful AAU Program in Australia, and our players are held to a certain level of excellence. It is hard to make our teams!

Our goal as a program is to help more Aussies play college ball in the States. So, if you end up playing for AUSA, or for another program, we are more than happy to help you learn about the US College system and more than happy to pass you on to other programs.

AM I COMMITTED TO ANYTHING BY COMING TO THESE TRIALS?

Not at all. These National AAU Trials are simply an opportunity for you to trial for our teams, learn what AUSA is about and discover why we have been so successful in helping players get to the States. If you are offered the opportunity to play with us, you will be given a few weeks to make a decision before your spot may be offered to another player who is of the standard to play for AUSA.
